[Features]
Heat and Dust Resistance:
The OpenMicroServer™ is constructed in such a way that heat from the heating element escapes via an aluminum heat sink to the aluminum casing, which eliminates the need for a fan. The unit also employs a power efficient Alchemy CPU and precise part placement based on thermo-fluid analysis to achieve semi-hermetic construction with a guaranteed maximum operating temperature of 50C/122F. With its semi-hermetic construction, the OMS Microserver is resistant against dust and can be deployed in industrial production environments.
Power supply via LAN cable:
OMS models come with integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability. With this functionality the OpenMicroServer™ can be used even in places where power outlets or space for a mains adapter are not available, for example when it is used to monitor outside measuring equipment. It also reduces the number of necessary cables.
[Supported OS]
SSD/Linux
SSD/Linux is a Linux distribution that was optimized for use with the Plat'Home MicroServer series. It is fast and uses minimum ROM space but supports all necessary hardware and networking functions.
NetBSD
The OpenMicroServer™ is officially supported in NetBSD/evbmips 4.0.
Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 (etch)
The OpenMicroServer™ is supported by Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 (etch).
[Ports]
Three Ethernet Ports - Gigabit (x2), 10/100 (x1):
One OpenMicroServer™ is enough to create a DMZ.
Ports can be configured for separate purposes such as sending, receiving, and administration.
2 USB 2.0 Ports:
The USB ports can be used to connect a wide range of devices to the server, especially thumb drives and external harddisks. Since the BIOS can boot from these devices, it is possible to run the server on an alternate OS without overwriting the ROM.
Two RJ-45 Serial Ports:
This gives you the convenience to use one port for a serial console, for development or administration, while using a modem or similar device on the other serial port.
8-bit DIO (4 Input + 4 Output):
The unit comes with DIO, the gateway to the digital world for special devices that do not have general communication ports or applications that require the development of dedicated interfaces.
